8:30 AM - 9:00 AM
Aloha MTP Campers! All MTP campers are encouraged to arrive between this time to settle before instruction begins. Parents/Guardians must personally sign in their camper.
9:00 - 9:30 AM
Students gather together with their groups to retake attendance. Coach's welcome campers with a quote or share motivational words to remind students why they are here and to discuss the goals for the week.
9:30 AM - 10:00 AM
At MTP, conditioning is important so our campers perform their best. Stretching and engaging in warm-ups helps to enhance flexibility, prevent muscle soreness, improve range of motion, and increase blood flow to the muscles.
10:00 AM - 10:15 AM
MTP offers snacks in their Jaguar Snack Shack Concession. Campers can purchase snacks during this snack break. Snacks vary in price but do not exceed $3. Beverages such as water and Gatorade are available and encouraged for consistent hydration. Campers can also bring their own snacks from home.
10:15 AM - 11:15 AM (Ball handling, passing, shooting, team play, defense, plyom)
New campers will learn the building block drills. Returning campers will reinforce these skills with additional practice drills from level 1, 2, 3, or 4, depending on their skill level and how long they have been with us. Each drill and level is designed to prepare the students for the next level. As the week goes on, we start to add more and more fun. In this way we can keep the kids motivated and working hard.
11:15 AM - 12:15 PM
Shooting is an essential skill in basketball. The fundamental skills of passing, dribbling, defense, and rebounding may enable you to get a high-percentage shot, but you must still be able to make the shot. A large part of shooting is a mental attitude. In addition to shooting skills, you must have the confidence to shoot well. The integration of the mental and mechanical aspects of shooting fosters shooting success.
12:15 PM - 1:15 PM
All Jaguar Campers gather outside for lunch. Lunches are supervised at all times by Directors and Camp Counselors. Campers sit with friends and with their age groups.
1:15 PM - 2:15 PM
The 5-on-5 station, during the 1:30 station work, is simply an informal (or “scrimmage”) basketball game. Granted, this station has very little learning, but the kids are having some well-earned fun. The kids will work hard at the other stations knowing this fun station is coming up.
2:15 PM - 3:00 PM
During lecture sessions, coaches and campers collaborate to have discussions about the day's activities. Subjects include, but are not limited to improving self-confidence; the value of a positive attitude; goal setting.
